Day 2. Mauna Loa and Halema‘uma‘u Crater from Kīlauea Iki. In 1959 lava began spewing forth from Pu‘u Pua‘i (gushing hill) vent (reddish scar below steam vent) filling Kīlauea Iki lava lake.
